Hesco Bastion contracted for more defensive barriers

A five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has been given to Hesco Bastion Inc. by the U.S. military for force protection barrier systems.

Hesco's barriers are an earth-filled basket system that have been used extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan to protect troops and their facilities from direct and indirect fire. They are comprised of collapsible wire mesh container and heavy duty fabric liner and are erected around and within bases.

"We have protected the men and women of the United States Army for over a decade and we are proud to continue supplying the DLA with the defense barriers that soldiers have come to trust and rely on," said Stephanie Victory, chief executive of Hesco Bastion.

The contract was awarded the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency. Its base period of performance is two years and there are three one-year options.

The HESCO barrier system was first deployed by the British military in 1991.

Additional details of the contract were not disclosed.
