STARA Technologies, a leading developer of miniature guided parachute systems, has been invited to demonstrate the capabilities of their GNAT system for NATO in the southwestern French town of Monte de Marsan.

Measuring approximately three inches cubed, STARA's GNAT is the only guided parafoil delivery system small and light enough to be delivered from unpiloted drone aircraft called unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

"The GNAT expands the role of the UAV beyond reconnaissance and surveillance," STARA's President Colin McCavitt commented.

"It provides UAVs with the capability to effectively attack enemy positions, emplace intelligence collecting ground sensors and resupply injured troops with blood packets. We're looking forward to demonstrating these capabilities to NATO and the international community this September."

STARA is currently working on two new projects to use the GNAT to deliver sensors and munitions from the Predator and Shadow UAVs and will be also be showcasing the GNAT at the upcoming AUVSI tradeshow in Anaheim this month.
