Tata Sky, a Star-Tata joint venture Monday signed an agreement with Indian Space Research Organisation to lease high-powered Ku band transponders from the space agency's communication satellite for launching Direct-to-Home services across the country, reports PTI.

As per the agreement, Tata Sky would lease all 12 ku-band transponders on the INSAT 4A satellite, which would help the company to transmit 150 channels in digital quality to the remotest areas in the country, the company said in a release here.

Antrix Corporation, the ISRO's marketing and export arm Executive Director K R Sridhara Murthi said, the Insat 4A satellite has been developed keeping the local requirements in mind and would enable Tata Sky to provide greater coverage all across India.
