ViaSat has won a delivery order valued at approximately $60 million for Multifunctional Information Distribution System terminals from The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), San Diego.

The order includes LVT(1) airborne and LVT(2) ground-based Low Volume Terminals under the Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract awarded in January 2000.

The MIDS LVT provides secure, high capacity, jam resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for the U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and for U.S. defense partners.

Delivery of the Lot 6 units is expected to begin in April of next year and continue through the fourth quarter of ViaSat's fiscal year 2007.

The Lot 6 award includes LVT(1) terminals and spares for F/A-18, F-16, B-52 aircraft, the MH-60 helicopter, and Link-16 Alaska.

The award also includes LVT(2) terminals and spares for various Army and Air Force systems including the JICO Support System (JSS), the U.S. Army PM-TRCS (Tactical Radio Communication System), U.S. Army Program Executive Office Missiles and Space (PEO M&S), U.S. Army PEO-ASMD (Program Executive Office Air Space and Missile Defense), U.S. Army Medium Extended Air Defense (MEADS), as well as terminals for Japan's Defense Agency via FMS procurement. ViaSat is the only certified producer of the LVT(2).

"This award sets a record as the largest MIDS order issued to ViaSat during the annual Lot procurements executed by the MIDS International Program Office" said Paul Baca vice president of Tactical Data Links at ViaSat.

"We also look forward to reaching a major milestone this summer when we produce and deliver our 500th terminal."
