Comtech Telecomm Receives Multi-Year Contract Award for Sat Comms Equipment

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. has announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received a multi-year contract award for satellite communications equipment to be deployed in security and defense networks in Europe. The initial order against this contract is for $1.6 million, with an overall award potential of up to $4 million through 2007.

This contract provides for the purchase of high performance satellite modems with an extended range of higher-order modulation, coding and advanced forward error correction techniques, including Turbo Product Coding, which significantly enhances coding gain and bandwidth efficiency, reducing overall transponder costs. This award includes both military and commercial bandwidth efficient satellite modems.

"This award illustrates Comtech's ability to provide innovative satellite communication solutions to global defense markets," said Fred Kornberg, president and chief executive officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp.

Raytheon To Pursue USAF $2B Transformational Military Communications Program

Raytheon will lead an industry team in pursuit of the Transformational Satellite Communications System (TSAT) Mission Operations System (TMOS), a program to provide the warfighter a secure, interoperable, high-capacity global communications network. The contract will be awarded in fiscal year 2005.
