NYC Transit Using Eagle Broadband's SatMAX For Comms Link To RNC

Eagle Broadband announced Monday that New York City Transit, the largest public transportation system in the United States, is using the company's exclusive SatMAX wireless satellite repeater technology with Iridium-based services from World Communication Center (WCC) to provide non-line-of-sight satellite communications to NYC Transit staff for the 2004 Republican National Convention.

NYC Transit selected WCC to deliver a turnkey communications solution that leverages Eagle's SatMAX to ensure highly reliable voice and data communications between NYC Transit staff in the field and those located in headquarters and operations facilities.

The state-of-the-art, Iridium-based satellite communications solution WCC and Eagle are delivering enhances NYC Transit's primary communications as well as critical emergency back-up communications to help ensure the safest, most secure transportation services during and after the event.

Having been designated a National Special Security Event (NSSE) by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, numerous federal, state and local agencies have worked together over the past year to put in place an unprecedented level of security for the major national event.

A key part of the operational security plan is ensuring reliable communications between federal, state and local agencies to maximize security and safety for convention attendees, visitors and New York City residents.

NYC Transit is using Eagle's exclusive SatMAX repeater technology with Iridium services from WCC to provide multiple, concurrent NYC Transit personnel using standard Iridium satellite phones with fully wireless, non-line-of-sight satellite communications inside key NYC Transit facilities.
