EU, South Korea Seal Galileo Agreement
The European Union and South Korea last Thursday reached an agreement allowing the latter's participation in Europe's satellite radio-navigation program, Galileo. "After the successful launch of the first Galileo Giove-A satellite, this new agreement underlines, once again, the ever growing worldwide interest for the program," said EU Vice-President Jacques Barrot. The agreement, sealed after six months of talks, provides for cooperation in research and training, standards, trade and market development. The agreement also confirms the EU ambition to further stimulate international cooperation. The ever growing interest of third countries to participate in the Galileo program represents a big boost for the GNSS market, said a press release of the EU executive European Commission.

Contract For In-Orbit Validation Of Galileo System To Be Signed
Berlin, German (ESA) Jan 16, 2006After the successful launch of the GIOVE-A satellite on 28 December 2005 and the acquisition of the first 'Galileo' signal on 12 January 2006, Galileo is now well on its way with the signing of the contract for the development and in-orbit validation of the constellation's first four satellites. |
