On April 13, 2023, the first working group meeting of the BRICS Remote Sensing Satellite Constellation in 2023 was held via video. Representatives from the five BRICS countries attended the meeting.

Zhao Jian, director of the Earth Observation and Data Center of the National Space Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Representatives from the International Cooperation Department of the space agency attended the meeting.

In 2023, South Africa will hold the rotating presidency of the BRICS Constellation. At the meeting, representatives of the South African National Space Agency made suggestions on the working group's 2023 annual work plan, annual data exchange plan, as well as the BRICS space capability catalog and the BRICS space technology roadmap.

Director Zhao Jian said that China will fully support the work of the working group under the leadership of the South African National Space Agency. , China will actively contribute wisdom and strength.

The meeting reached a consensus on the 2023 annual work plan of the working group. In the follow-up, the working group will continue to hold meetings to discuss and formulate relevant outcome documents to make relevant preparations for the holding of the BRICS summit.
