Arkisys unveils first spacecraft element for The Port in Pasadena

This is the first platform of its kind that is designed specifically to assemble and aggregate to itself on orbit, and to allow for any payload, technology or visiting vessel to be supported after they are launched.

Arkisys has unveiled its first generation orbital outpost spacecraft element, the Port Module Wedge, planned for its first use on its initial Space Outpost in low earth orbit, as well as subsequent future missions and destinations.

Standing at approximately 1 meter tall and just over 1 meter wide, it is the core architectural component that defines the unique commercial-focused development of Arkisys Ports in Space, scaleable aggregatable platforms for arrival and departures of new technology innovation and experimentation, manufacturing and on orbit assembly.

Arkisys is building the world's first autonomous robotically enabled Commercial Space Outpost for Assembly, Integration and Resupply. Led by a renowned team of space industry pioneers, Arkisys is assembling the first incremental space infrastructure step through an agile aggregatable platform that directly supports customer needs today, with services to expand and create new markets tomorrow.

Through adaptive hardware and software interfaces, cloud-native operations, a low cost service menu and options for fast launch and data transport, the Port is the first on-orbit commercial nexus able to host arrivals and departures of visiting vessels with new cargo/payloads and provide multiple capabilities and services for business expansion into Space.

Targeting a launch date in 2023, the first Port Module will be the first capable commercial platform of its kind. Designed, manufactured, and launched in the US, this first LEO Port is meant to support international customers, through launch and orbital vessels from national/ international departure points around the globe.

This past year, the Port successfully passed a system design review (SDR), a key development phase in the engineering of the key elements and Port systems operations.

To rapidly build infrastructure in space at unprecedented scale, Arkisys and its partners demonstrated real-time connections via the internet to national and international payload and platform suppliers. Through a Port Digital Twin and a unique data protocol adapter, along with proven mechanical/electrical interfaces, Arkisys has started the onboarding process for new payloads and demonstrated the execution required for day-in-the-life of Port operations.

The Port Module Wedge is the key element that allows structural, electronic and data aggregation to occur on the Port module, but also enables direct connection to customers and suppliers, after launch.

This is the first platform of its kind that is designed specifically to assemble and aggregate to itself on orbit, and to allow for any payload, technology or visiting vessel to be supported after they are launched.

The unveiling, which took place in Pasadena this week, was attended by the Arkisys executive team, Arkisys partners including Motiv Space Systems and Novawurks, a pioneering user Exo-Space, and several key government and commercial customers.
