ST Engineering iDirect selected for second phase of Indonesia's Satria-1 satellite expansion

The selection for Phase Two is attributed to ST Engineering iDirect's cutting-edge technology and its collaboration with local partner PT Bis Data Indonesia (Bignet). The rapid deployment of their system has been essential in Indonesia's efforts to deliver high-speed internet to underserved areas.

In this phase, an additional 26Gbps of capacity will be deployed through new gateways located in Timika, Manokwari, and Jayapura. This will provide enhanced access to key services like education and healthcare for up to 150,000 public service points, including nearly 94,000 schools and over 3,700 healthcare centers.

The expansion builds on Phase One, which saw the implementation of ST Engineering iDirect's Dialog platform. The platform enabled internet connectivity for around 45 million Indonesians, many of whom previously had no access to the internet. The Dialog platform's scalability also supports Indonesia's broader digital infrastructure goals.

Satria-1, launched in 2023, is one of the largest satellites in Asia, with a capacity of 150Gbps. It plays a key role in Indonesia's mission to bridge the digital divide, and the infrastructure provided by ST Engineering iDirect is designed to meet the country's diverse connectivity needs, while laying the groundwork for future satellite service demands.
