London, UK (SPX) Apr 25, 2024
SES has officially launched the O3b mPOWER, its advanced second-generation satellite system, now fully operational to offer high-performance connectivity worldwide.

This system features the first six of thirteen high-throughput, low-latency O3b mPOWER satellites, currently positioned in medium Earth orbit, approximately 8,000km from the planet. This deployment is supported by a comprehensive global ground infrastructure.

The operational satellites, alongside strategically located ground stations, enable SES to enhance its services across diverse market segments globally.

With the O3b mPOWER system active, SES bolsters its distinctive medium Earth orbit network capabilities, seamlessly integrating with the existing O3b constellation. The forthcoming launch of two additional satellites is scheduled for late 2024.

SES's unique positioning as an all-orbit solutions provider is strengthened through a combination of its medium Earth orbit and geostationary networks, along with access to low Earth orbit solutions via strategic partnerships. This multi-orbit strategy allows SES to offer an optimal mix of high data rates, low latency, and exceptional service reliability and flexibility, meeting a broad range of customer needs across the globe.

"We are very excited that O3b mPOWER is now ready to serve our customers around the world. Over the last few years, our SES team, along with our technology partners across space and ground segments, have worked tirelessly to bring our O3b mPOWER system online. I'm proud to say that all the core infrastructure is deployed, tested and ready on a global basis," said Adel Al-Saleh, CEO of SES.

"The demand for O3b mPOWER solutions is very high, and this moment has been long-awaited by our customers. Over the coming weeks we will work with our mobility, government, enterprise and cloud customers on O3b mPOWER onboarding plans. We're eager to empower their operations with reliable, high-performance, and secure services."
