CORRECTED: X fine 'nothing to do with censorship': EU tech chief
Brussels, Belgium, Dec 5 (AFP) Dec 05, 2025
The EU's tech chief Friday denied a US charge it was engaging in "censorship" by fining Elon Musk's X platform for breaking the bloc's rules on digital content.

"This decision is about the transparency of X" and "nothing to do with censorship," EU tech chief Henna Virkkunen told reporters, pushing back at an accusation by US Vice President JD Vance ahead of the announcement.

"If you comply with our rules, you don't get a fine -- it's as simple as that," she said.
