The Minister for Universities and Science, David Willetts, has announced the release of the UK Space Agency's latest report on the progress of the UK space industry.

The announcement was made at the OECD Space Symposium in Paris where the Minister delivered the keynote speech on the role of space in monitoring global threats.

Figures from the report 'The Size and Health of the UK Space Sector' reveal that the industry continues to soar and that its total contribution to the UK economy in 2010/2011 was Pounds 9.1 billion.

The report is the latest update of a biennial survey of British companies involved in the sector.
