Mobile Satellite Ventures Appoints Ali Asghar As VP Of Corporate Development

Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) announced Monday that Ali Asghar was appointed Vice President of Corporate Development. Mr. Asghar joins MSV from America Online where he led their alternative broadband development. P

Previously, Mr. Asghar was with Morgan Stanley, McKinsey & Company, and E.M. Warburg Pincus in their technology venture capital group.

"Ali is a significant addition to the MSV corporate development team," said Monish Kundra, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development of MSV.

"His background reflects an ideal mix of technology savvy and transaction experience that MSV will benefit from as it embarks upon its next stage of development. We are pleased to have him with us."

As Vice President of Corporate Development, Mr. Asghar will be responsible for developing partner relationships within the United States and also exploring international partnerships.

Mr. Asghar holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate dual degree from the Wharton School and the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, in Finance and Computer Engineering. Mr. Asghar also holds a Master's Degree from Harvard's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, in Middle Eastern Studies.

Mobile Satellite Ventures LP (MSV) is at the forefront of the development of the first hybrid satellite-cellular communications network, which will provide seamless, transparent and ubiquitous wireless coverage of North America to conventional handsets.

It has extensive patents on the technology and holds the first and only FCC license to provide these services. MSV plans to launch two satellites for North American coverage, which will be among the largest and most powerful commercial satellites ever built.

When completed, the network will transform communications in a variety of areas including public safety, homeland security, aviation, transportation and entertainment, by providing interoperable, user-friendly and feature-rich voice and high-speed data services.

Today MSV offers customers a wide choice of wireless data, voice, fax and dispatch radio services via its two MSAT satellites. It provides superior capacity and reliability across North America, northern South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Hawaii and their coastal waters.

MSV is privately held and its primary investors include Motient Corporation, SkyTerra Communications, TMI Communications, Columbia Capital, and Spectrum Equity Investors.
