Miami Beach FL (SPX) Apr 26, 2011

The installed charging unit is part of the ChargePoint Network, the premier, global network of Coulomb Technologies, the leader in electric vehicle charging systems.

Car Charging Group reports that EV Charging Services are now available at Icon 39th and Eighth Parking LLC, located at 310 West 39th Street, New York, NY. The most recent installation in an ongoing agreement with Icon Parking Systems, the premier provider of parking services in Manhattan.

"According to 'The Electric Vehicle Study 2010' by Zpryme Sponsored by Airbiquity, New York was the number two state for EV ownership in 2008 with over 8,000 EVs on state roads. With more than 20 different electric vehicles going on sale over the next three years, including the highly acclaimed Chevrolet Volt and Nissan LEAF, that number will grow if supported by forward-thinking companies like Icon Parking Systems that are planning the necessary infrastructure today," said Car Charging Group's Director of Sales Brian Golomb.

"With over 200 parking facilities in some of Manhattan's busiest and most vibrant commercial neighborhoods, residential areas and landmark districts, Icon is an ideal partner to help us bring EV power to NYC, where rising gas prices are offering a compelling proposition for current and potential EV drivers."

The same study indicates that the users of new EV charging services is projected to grow by 40.4 percent annually from 2011-2016 and the EV charging service market is anticipated to grow 75.4 percent during the same time frame.

The installed charging unit is part of the ChargePoint Network, the premier, global network of Coulomb Technologies, the leader in electric vehicle charging systems. The charging station has dual outputs that deliver energy simultaneously: a 7.2 kW output delivering Level II (208/240 VAC @ 30 A) charging via the standard SAE J1772(TM) connector and fixed 18-foot cable, and a 2 kW output delivering Level I (120 VAC @ 16 A) charging via a standard NEMA 5-20 receptacle protected behind a locking door.

The ChargePoint Network, open to all drivers of plug-in vehicles and all manufacturers of plug-in vehicle charging stations, also includes the following unique features:

+ The ability for a station owner to set fees for use of their stations (including free charging)

+ The ability for drivers to access stations without a subscription via contactless credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, and Discover)

+ 24/7/365 telephone driver support via a toll free number on all charging stations

+ Smart Grid ready with built in Utility Grade Capable Metering, Time of Use (TOU) pricing and Demand Response (DR) control

+ Multiple Smart Phone applications (iPhone and Blackberry) to find unoccupied stations and navigate to them

+ The lowest operating cost possible due to real-time operational monitoring, alerts, diagnosis, and control of millions of stations

Car Charging provides EV charging stations at no charge to property owners/managers while retaining ownership, thus allowing drivers access to convenient locations and partners to realize a percentage of the charging revenue generated.
