INSAT-4C To Be Launched Within A Year

After the recent failure of the launch vehicle GSLV-F02 carrying INSAT-4C, Government today informed Lok Sabha that the next launch of the satellite would take place within one year.

A failure analysis committee has been set up with experts from the ISRO, academia and National Research Laboratory to ascertain the causes of the failure and it would submit its report within one month, Minister of State in PMO Prithviraj Chauhan said in reply to a question.

Corrective measures would be formulated after the committee submits its findings, he said, adding the cost of INSAT-4C satellite was Rs 96 crore and of the launch was Rs 150 crore.

To another question, Chauhan said there was no move to advance the launch of INSAT-4B, which is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2007.

The indigenous satellite, to be launched by Arianespace from French Guyana, costs Rs 202 crore and the cost of the launch would be Rs 225 crore, he added.
