IHS Aerospace, Defense and Security, an open source intelligence analysis company, has partnered with Airbus Defense and Space to provide satellite intelligence gathering and analysis.

Under the three-year deal, IHS will receive imagery and information from Airbus' Pleiades, SPOT and TerraSAR-X satellites. The imagery and data will be fused with open source information for actionable intelligence.

IHS, headquartered in Colorado, will also have access to the Airbus' GO Monitor service, which was developed to support the geo-intelligence community.

The result will be a detailed picture of dynamic events in volatile regions worldwide, IHS said.

IHS says its use of Airbus satellite imagery over the past several years resulted in breaking news stories on the second Russian base in Syria, new developments in North Korea's nuclear program and China's island building in the South China Sea.

"Our team of satellite imagery analysts is able to break these stories because of the timely imagery from Airbus," said Blake Bartlett, vice president of IHS Aerospace, Defensce and Security.

"We look forward to delivering new analysis that we can share over the next three years of our partnership."

"We are very pleased to reinforce our partnership with IHS Aerospace, Defense and Security and deliver recent, reliable and detailed analysis to the geospatial intelligence community based on our multi-resolution satellite constellation," said Bernhard Brenner, head of Geo-Intelligence Program Line at Airbus Defense and Space.
