Harry Miles Sector VP Of Northrop Grumman Enterprise Process Development And Quality

Northrop Grumman has named Harry Miles sector vice president of enterprise process development and quality for the Ship Systems sector. In this role, he will be responsible for developing and leading the implementation of a strategy for process development and improvement across the enterprise. He will report to Philip A. Teel, president of Northrop Grumman Ship Systems.

Previously, Miles led the rollout and implementation of Six Sigma, a quality and process improvement program, across Northrop Grumman's Space Technology sector to improve its competitive position within the aerospace industry. Miles helped achieve substantial savings in production, supply chain, legal and human resources operations by implementing Six Sigma methods, coaching process improvement teams, defining processes and helping to develop common tools for measuring performance against objectives.

"This appointment reflects our continued commitment to quality and process improvement," said Teel. "Harry's strong background in business transformation, major program management and process development and improvement will be vital to us as we continue to produce measurable and sustainable improvements at Ship Systems."

Previously, Miles held leadership positions of increasing responsibility on satellite and high-energy laser programs. He earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from New Mexico State University.

Northrop Grumman Ship Systems includes primary operations in Pascagoula and Gulfport, Miss.; and in New Orleans and Tallulah, La., as well as in a network of fleet support offices in the U.S. and Japan. Ship Systems is one of the nation's leading full-service systems companies for the design, engineering, construction and life-cycle support of major surface ships for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and international navies.
