Exelis reports it is to provide information management and technology support services to serve more than 3,700 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer customers.

The contract for the services, issued by the USACE Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Miss. It is a fixed-price incentive award and includes the base year of performance and four one-year options. It carries a value of $517 million.

"We look forward to providing world-class information technology and information management to the Corps of Engineers' critical networks in support of this very important award," said Ken Hunzeker, president of the Mission Systems division of Exelis. "Our network infrastructure support capability is well-developed and well-tested and we are thoroughly committed to providing this important customer with superior performance."

Exelis said its information management and information technology support services will be performed in multiple locations, including nine separate Engineer divisions, 44 Engineer districts – including their field and area project offices -- and two data centers, one in Mississippi and the other in Oregon.

The Mission Systems division of Exelis is expected to spin off as a standalone company later this year.
