Tele Atlas and ALK Technologies have announced a license agreement whereby ALK will use Tele Atlas maps and dynamic content in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

The agreement gives ALK access to Tele Atlas' global digital map content and products, including content for more than 24 million points of interest (POIs) and additional map enhancement products that can further enrich the mobile device users' navigation experience.

ALK's award-winning CoPilot GPS software makes every journey easier by delivering a fully integrated navigation solution for the mobile environment, with useful navigation-based services such as live local search and weather via the phone's mobile Internet connection.

"Accurate, global digital map data is a key element of our GPS software offerings that mobile carriers and handset manufacturers rely on when building new applications for the wireless market," said Michael Kornhauser, Managing Director, ALK Technologies.

"We are excited to work with Tele Atlas as a partner for digital maps and location content; their stringent processes and content enhanced with community input add even more value to our products and will enable us to offer the powerful navigation experience that the mobile industry demands."

"Increasingly, the mobile and Internet arenas are converging on LBS, and consumers seek more sophisticated GPS-enabled services from their devices and handsets," said Filip Neirynck, Vice President of Consumer Markets, Tele Atlas.

"With ALK's substantial position in the Smartphone market and commitment to quality, we are pleased that our relationship with ALK will help empower millions of mobile users with accurate navigation information and location based content around the world."
