At least 20 people were killed on Monday by flash floods in northwest Pakistan caused by heavy monsoon rains, officials said.
Waters from a storm drain overflowed and hit dozens of villages in two areas near Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province bordering Afghanistan.
Officials said 1,000 houses were destroyed and 20 bodies have been recovered so far.
"Ten people died in Bara (a tribal district) and 10 more were killed in suburban villages of Peshawar," district government official Ghulam Ahmed told AFP.
