ND SatCom introduces new software for SkyWAN product line

ND SatCom, a leading global supplier of satellite based broadband, broadcast and military communication network solutions today announced the release of its new software version 5.31 for its SkyWAN product family.

Besides fully mesh network topologies this new software now allows to set-up star and hybrid VSAT networks in the most economic way. This new software development furthermore facilitates static and dynamic IP routing as well as embedded TCP acceleration.

"The new software version 5.31 is a major step in bringing the SkyWAN platform to a very attractive feature set. It is our response to market needs for competitive and cost efficient hybrid network topology solutions," said Dr. Gerhard Bommas, CTO at ND SatCom.

"Our software release eliminates the self hearing requirements of SkyWAN and thus reduces ODU requirements by factor 2 in most cases. We strongly believe that this feature set will strengthen the success we already have with our SkyWAN networks in the VSAT industry."

SkyWAN is a very flexible and versatile MF-TDMA VSAT system to establish wide area corporate network infrastructures including IP Router as well as FR switch functionality. Standard user interfaces such as Ethernet and Frame Relay, voice/fax, serial synchronous and asynchronous connections are available and ready for applications based on these standards providing a unified network infrastructure.

Internet Protocol (IP) applications such as Web access, IP Video, or Voice over IP are fully supported. Therefore the complete variety of end user business communication applications are supported in an yet unmatched way.
