The lift-off of an Ariane-5 ECA launcher with two telecommunications satellites, which was delayed overnight Saturday due to a technical problem, will "probably" take place in two or three days, the European group Arianespace said Sunday. The launcher, which is being worked on at its final assembly plant, will need to be transferred again to the launch pad for a lift-off "probably Tuesday or Wednesday," Arianespace's chief executive, Jean-Yves Le Gall, told AFP. "Our attitude is not to take any risk with our launchers," Le Gall said, adding that "there are only small technical problems, and I am very confident about the launch" this week. The mission was initially scheduled for June 24 but the launch has now been postponed twice. The launcher is set to release satellite television firm DirecTV's Spaceway 2, which weighs 6.1 tonnes at lift-off and will enable the company to provide live coverage in the United States. The other satellite set to be launched is Telkom 2, weighing nearly two tonnes, which is owned by the Indonesian company PT Telkom Indonesia.
