Spicing Up Space Meals

Eating well is important in space.
Los Angeles CA (SPX) Jan 04, 2006
Since its launch a year and half ago, Minimus.biz has quickly become the place to go for individual and travel size items. Last week, NASA came to Minimus.biz and purchased several different travel size condiments to send with the astronauts to the International Space Station.

"We are ecstatic to be working with NASA on their portion package needs. We have a lot of varied and interesting customers coming to Minimus.biz, but I think NASA tops them all," said Minimus.biz Vice President of Marketing Paul Shrater. The astronauts will now be able to liven up some of their space meals with small packets of Kraft Horseradish Sauce, Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard, Heinz Barbeque Sauce and Seafood Cocktail Sauce, Smucker's Seedless Orange Marmalade, Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce, and Sue Bee Clover Honey.

"We're thrilled that NASA has selected us," said Becky Serafini, senior brand manager, Heinz Foodservice marketing (Ketchup, Condiments & Sauces). "It's an honor to be chosen as part of the program."

Discussions are underway for additional products carried by Minimus.biz to be sent into space, but all of them must go through a special testing process at NASA before they are approved for use. Jim Powell, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Sioux Honey Association, makers of Sue Bee Honey, said "we were excited to learn our honey packets passed the test in the NASA labs and will be sent up into space."
