The Dongfeng-31 missile blasted off the Ujai launchpad late Saturday, officials said as quoted by the RIA-Novosti news agency.

China had so far not agreed to inform other countries of its missile launches, "so their launches are always unexpected, but our services can always detect them," officials said.
